Kicking off the series of music festivals bound to happen this 2016, GoodVybes Fest started off strong, bringing in well-loved indie bands Stars, Oh Wonder, Chvrches, and Passion Pit. A 12-hour gathering for music lovers, hundreds of fans flocked to the Aseana Open Grounds to witness performances from both local and international artists, enjoying good music and just releasing positive vibes all throughout the festival.
Opening its gates at 1:00 PM, the festival offered three different stages for the audience to enjoy. They had the LIVE Stage, where the main acts took place; the DJ Tent, meant for those who wanted to dance the night away inside an intimate space; and the BEAT Tent, where most local acts performed and where the after party happened. The mix of electro-pop, EDM, and chill music was definitely something to keep you on your feet the whole night. The artists gave wonderful performances, the crowd was energetic and everyone was game to dance and groove during the show. No KJs were seen on the ground, definitely!
The performances started by 2:00 PM, with front act Tenderfist opening the show. It was followed by Brisom and Assembly Generals before finally introducing the four main acts for the night.
Stars performed first, belting out classics like “Your Ex-Lover Is Dead” and “Dead Hearts“, which made everyone feel all the feels. Who wouldn’t be affected by their spot on lyrics and gorgeous voices? They also performed tracks like “From The Night” and “Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It“, which made everyone jump and dance around. The Montreal-based band performed for an hour, but it still wasn’t enough. We could’ve used some more time to sing with them, obviously.

Oh Wonder took the stage shortly after, with Josephine and Anthony serenading the audience, giving off a splendid performance for a good 60 minutes. Singing their tracks like “Drive”, “Technicolor Beat”, and “All We Do”, the young duo made the hearts of the audience run wild with their songs hitting so close to home. Coming all the way from London, Goodvybes Fest was the duo’s first time to perform in Asia.
