Emma Stone is Said to Play A Classic Favorite Disney Villain! But Which One?

The lovely, adorable, ever funny-girl Emma Stone to play a horrific Disney Villain? Yup, looks like it’s happening!

News blew up yesterday that the 27 year old actress is “in talks” with Walt Disney Productions to play the wicked fur-gaga villain, Cruella De Vil. Reportedly, Disney is making a live-action film revolving around the iconic antagonist from 101 Dalmatians which, according to E Online, will be titled “Cruella.” (Did anyone get chills from that? No? Just me? Okay.) If she does land the part, Stone will be following Glenn Close’s footsteps, who played the fashionable villain in 1996’s live-action film 101 Dalmatians.

Perhaps some of you are shaking your head: why Emma Stone? That girl couldn’t make us hate her even if she tried! But the girl’s got talent, too. So, yes, maybe she dares try to make you hate her. She’s showcased her acting chops; making the jump from light comedies since her Easy A days to going drama in critically acclaimed films such as The Help and Birdman.

And it seems this has become the new trend in Hollywood movies—the coveted roles have become the villains. And the coveted actresses get these roles.

From Julia Robert’s Evil Queen in Mirror Mirror, Charlize Theron’s stunning performance as (also) the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman, and Disney’s very own sympathetic realization of the vicious Maleficent, played by none other than Angelina Jolie, it would seem that to be another classic villain in the big screen would not be a bad thing for Emma Stone. Not a bad thing at all.
