Now that the holidays are here, literally the entire country is lighting up with gorgeous Christmas lights and decorations. One of our favorite pastimes during this time of year is checking out the spectacles that every area has to offer, but one that really caught our eyes and hearts is the Eastwood Holiday Lightscapades. Aside from being absolutely gorgeous, we love how much creativity, planning, and talent went into it.

Eastwood Holiday Lightscapades: What Is It?

Every year, Eastwood City lights up with a dazzling display of Christmas decorations. This year, more than 2.5 million sparkling lights can be found around the city along with a first-of-its-kind lights and sound show that promises to be the biggest and the brightest that the Philippines has ever seen.

This fully immersive lights and sound show is an original concept by Filipino lighting designer John Batalla, and we absolutely fell in love with it when we attended the launch. Here’s a sneak peek:

More than the actual show, the 20-foot Christmas tree sculpture that stands at the heart of Eastwood Mall Open Park has a great story behind it. It is actually crafted from NASA-grade MYLAR laminated chromed metal and revolves as different light sources move to the beat of the holiday music.

Even the music isn’t your usual Christmas music as it comes with party-vibes remixes. Haze and bubble effects also emanate from the structure for a truly immersive and stunning colorful visual spectacle.

International-grade laser points add even more bursts of color to the experience, featuring the latest lighting technology placed strategically around the open park’s adjacent structures. That’s right. It isn’t just the park that gets illuminated here. The surrounding buildings and structures become a part of the show as well.

The reflective Christmas tree display was created by Batalla along with Ohm David, a renowned professor and theater set designer who has worked on huge musical productions like the 2019 SEA Games opening ceremonies. Their inspiration? Batalla and David’s “movement forward” mantra, which invites everyone to not just look at the past but look forward to the future.

“Eastwood Holiday Lightscapades exemplify the beauty in diversity and the many beautiful things and possibilities we can create together when we all converge at a single point,” adds Graham Coates, head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. “The tree is a reflection of our hope for the season, the renewal that it brings, and the joys etched on each of our faces as we celebrate the best season in the Philippines. Just like what the artists who made this possible said, it is a great moment for us to look ahead to the future and enjoy what this Christmas brings.”

How to View the Eastwood Holiday Lightscapades

The Eastwood Holiday Lightscapades run every 20 minutes from 6PM to 10PM and feature three sets of music suites that are each 5 minutes long, curated and remixed by Arvy Dimaculangan, who has scored music for local theater productions.

Make sure to check out the other Christmas attractions at Eastwood City as well, such as the 50-foot Christmas Tree adorned with larger-than-life Christmas boxes and toys.
