Does The New Star Wars Trailer Show Leia’s End?

The new trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” finally dropped on Monday, which may have suggested Leia’s fate.

The trailer, which ran a little over two minutes, is the newest follow-up to a first trailer released in April, showing a teaser of Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, teaching Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, the ways of the Force.

Meanwhile, the new trailer was more detailed and gave more shape to the upcoming plot, as Luke told Rey he had only seen power like hers once before. While it didn’t scare him enough back then, it does now.

Although not explicitly mentioned, fans speculated on social media that Luke could be referring to Kylo Ren, his nephew and Rey’s nemesis, who is seen in a TIE fighter with his mother General Leia Organa in his sights, his eyes tearing up as he prepares to shoot.

Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the original trilogy, as well as for “The Force Awakens”, died in December 2016, after she finished shooting her scenes for the eighth film.
