Ever since the launch of the trailer of the upcoming Filipino adaptation of the beloved Japanese animation series Voltes V, it had garnered mixed reactions from the Filipino public.

Many fans took to social media after the trailer aired on December 31, 2019, to express awe at the quality of the graphics. Others, however, weren’t as impressed and criticized GMA Network, where the show will be aired, for making another remake instead of “smarter or more original” television series.

Voltes V Director Mark Reyes has this to say to everyone criticizing the remake:

“Those that support V5 Legacy are called “V-lievers”! And those who don’t are the “Bash-zanians”,” he wrote on an Instagram post, making a play on the words “believers” and the “Boazanians” (the humanoid aliens and main villains in Voltes V).

Whether fans like it or not, the Filipino remake is definitely coming soon on GMA Network, although they have yet to share other details about it other than the fact that it will be “licensed by Japan’s own Toei Company, Ltd. through its Philippine-licensor Telesuccess Productions, Inc.”

Rumors also have it that the adaptation will be released in 2021 and produced “seasonally” (meaning all the episodes will be done before it premieres). It is also said that it will feature the voices of Ruru Madrid, Mikee Quintos, and Kyline Alcantara.

However, Director Mark has yet to confirm these claims.
