Design Dialogues: Set the Stage

Stages are spaces that are designed in accordance with various scenes. Interior design plays a significant role in creating effective atmospheres on a stage that will affect the viewers. Through understanding the fundamentals of set design, stage planning and designing can become more effective and accurate. UP Design Core, an interior design student organization, explores this significance in spaces.

UP Design Core is the organization that caters exclusively to the BS Interior Design students of the University of the Philippines Diliman. On its 44th year, it continues to uphold the value of exchanging and engaging with ideas and raising awareness about the Interior Design profession.

The rebranding of their annual major event now leads to 2020’s Design Dialogues: Set the Stage. It will tackle the significance of set design in relation to spatial perception, interior design, and other disciplines. Set the Stage takes a look at the different scenes produced at theatre sets, film sets, and light plays with professional speakers on production design.

This year’s Design Dialogues lines up Interior Designer Orencio Loza, a former television set designer at GMA7 and currently an Interior Designer at ALL HOME; Ohm David, a theatrical set designer who has worked for various national and international theater companies in the PH and in Athens, Greece; and Aped Santos, pdgp, an eight-time awarded production designer with his proud onscreen credits including Baler, Patay na si Hesus, Barboys, and Liway.
