‘Death Note’ Releases New Manga Volume After 14 Years

In case you didn’t know, beloved manga “Death Note” made a comeback with an all-new story and a new character last year, surprising fans of the franchise around the world.

The comic debuted as a double-length one-shot story in the March issue of monthly manga anthology Jump Square and centered around Minoru Tanaka, a boy who, for three years running, has been regarded as the most intelligent junior high school student in Japan and becomes the latest human to utilize the power of Shinigami Ryuk in this new world “where Kira no longer exists.”

The comic will be printed in the “Death Note Short Stories” manga volume, as well as four-panel manga strips and other one-shot chapters created between 2003 and 2020 by the original creators of “Death Note”, artist Takeshi Obata and writer Tsugumi Ohba.

“Death Note Short Stories” will reportedly go on sale on February 4 for JPY 540 (approximately PHP 248), and can be pre-ordered through Amazon Japan here.
