During the past years, the annual Pet Show organized by the UP Society for the Advancement of Veterinary Education and Research (UP SAVER), has been an anticipated event in the University of the Philippines Los Baños College of Veterinary Medicine (UPLB-CVM) wherein pets of different species (from guinea pigs to horses) walk the stage to be flaunted by their loving owners. Sadly, due to this pandemic, any face-to-face events are affected and cannot be conducted.
Adapting to the new normal, a virtual alternative to this event entitled “CLAWS & EFFECT: How our Pets Play a Huge Role in our Lives” is brought to you by the UP SAVER, serving as an avenue to celebrate with the society through your screens, in the safety and comfort of your homes. It comprises 3 segments namely: BenePETs; A Photo Essay Contest (March 31 – April 30), FurGet Me Not: A Pet Show Tribute; (April 14), and For Pet’s Sake; A Webinar (April 30). As an academic organization upholding its core principles, this initiative was formed to shed light of the significance of our pets in our daily lives.
Channel your creative side and capture a meaningful photo of your pet with “BenePETs: How My Pet Has Helped Me Cope through the Pandemic” a photo essay competition to showcase human and animal companionship and how it helped with coping up during these challenging times.
Reminisce 30 pet shows over the years with UP SAVER in FurGet Me Not: A Pet Show Tribute. Witness the events that promoted responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and the veterinary profession in a Virtual Museum, and let’s not forget the adorable animals in costumes for you to see!
Learn new information in the knowledge-filled segment “For Pet’s Sake: A Webinar“. Esteemed licensed veterinarians shall impart wisdom on various information regarding animal welfare, pet ownership, and many more.
