Guess what? The city of Osaka in Japan has two new adorable ambassadors—Pikachu and Hello Kitty! Yes, you’ve read that right. Two of our favorite cartoon characters have been chosen to promote the city for the 2025 World Expo.
Japan’s Foreign Minister, Taro Kono, appointed Pokemon’s Pikachu and Sanrio’s Hello Kitty himself, announcing it on Twitter along with photos while he was appointing the duo. Below is the tweet:

According to the Bureau of International des Expositions (BIE), the intergovernmental organization in charge of overseeing and regulating World Expos, there are currently four countries, including France, the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, and Japan bidding to host the 2025 World Expo that happens every five years.
The election of the host country is set to happen in November 2018.
