Breaking Barriers: A Campaign For Gender Equality & Sensitivity

BREAKING BARRIERS EVENT POSTER

Third year Broadcast Communication students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ College of Communication will hold a university-wide campaign on gender equality and sensitivity called Breaking Barriers on March 4 to 8, 2019.

It can be recalled that in the survey employed last academic year, the level of awareness of college students about prevailing national laws, university policies, and campaigns to safeguard all genders from inequality and discrimination is alarmingly low.

The campaign aims to increase general awareness and understanding of gender equality issues, advocate the importance of overcoming existing barriers to gender equality as beneficial for all, and reduce all forms of gender discrimination to promote greater gender equality and social justice.

The organizers will set up a booth at the “white house” for their launching on March 4 to 6, 2019 where the students can get their ribbon of equality in support of the campaign and enjoy AVP presentations, freedom wall, photo booth,  and campaign souvenirs. There will also be an education proper at Bulwagang Bonifacio, 4/F NALLRC Building on March 7 & 8, 2019 with invited resource speakers from different organizations for men, women, and LGBT empowerment. The organizers also partnered with Kasarianlan for PUP Pride – a march celebrating diversity, equality, solidarity, and love in the university on March 8, 2019.
