Weeks after new parents Billy Crawford and Coleen Garcia welcomed their newborn baby, they have finally shared with fans and followers what the meaning is behind the name they’ve chosen for their son, Amari Jaden.

In an interview with Vice Ganda, Billy admitted that the name “Amari” had long been in his mind as a potential name for his future child.
“Matagal na sa ulo ko ang Amari,” he said. “Sabi ko lang [kay Coleen] before pa na kapag nagkaroon kami ng lalaki, gusto ko ipangalan Amari. Ni-research ko yung pangalan. Kapag babae, promised by God. Kapag lalaki naman, it means strength.”
[“Amari has long been in my head. I just told Coleen even before we found out we were going to have a son that I wanted to name them Amari. I researched the meaning. If it’s for a girl, it means ‘promised by God.’ If it’s for a boy, it means ‘strength.'”]
Meanwhile, “Jaden” was chosen by Coleen, meaning “thankful”—which is what she and Billy definitely feel with their new blessing.
“Gusto namin na habang tumatanda siya, maalala niya na at this moment, ito yung pinaka-thankful talaga namin kasi sobra sobra, halos araw-araw umiiyak kami,” she said.
[“I hope that when he grows older, he’ll remember that it’s at this moment that we are most thankful because we’ve been crying so much every day.”]
