The gloomy and brooding weather certainly adds to the sorrow and agony of this scene where Jesus and two other criminals are nailed onto crosses.

Jesus is laid in the arms of his blessed mother.

A few steps away is a tomb covered with a huge rock which can be rolled to the side to reveal Jesus’ burial place.

Jesus is resurrected.

Beside the site of Jesus’ resurrection is a prayer room where guests can reflect or pray.

Upon exiting the prayer room, is the Garden of Angels.

In total, the tour takes about an hour to finish. Guests are recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes with thick soles as the ground is covered with gravel. Also, there are benches around the park where guests can rest awhile before heading to the next stop. Rest rooms are also situated in various parts of the park.

Holy Land welcomes people of all beliefs and religions. According to Angeli M. Marasigan, the sales and marketing officer of Baguio Ecopark, they didn’t want to patronize a specific religion and they wanted to make Holy Land secular friendly. Hence, they kept the biblical references as simple as possible.

Holy Land receives a lot of visitors during Holy Week and during Christmas season. On regular days, they have more visitors on weekends than on weekdays. On days when it rains cats and dogs, be sure to check their online social accounts where they post announcements on park closing.

A tour of Holy Land can make for a great educational experience, an ideal time for reflecting, or just a leisurely walk through historical and biblical events. While you’re still dreaming about that trip to Jerusalem, drive on up towards Baguio’s very own Holy Land.

Thank you to Baguio Ecopark for inviting WheninManila.com and to Ms. Angeli M. Marasigan for arranging the tours!
