When In Manila, you will find hair fashionistas everywhere! From afar, you can see a woman with her long locks dyed blonde and set in big waves, to your left is a high school girl with silky straight black hair, and maybe walking behind you is a lady sporting an edgy pixie cut!
“What about you? What do you want, Joanne?”
Ms. Leah Caro smiles as she asks me.
Leah is a Senior Stylist at Azta Urban Salon, Robinsons Metro East branch. And since I knew what I wanted to try, I ask “Would soft curls work for me, Ms. Leah?!”
She smirks and in a snap, Ms. Marla Samontan, an Azta Urban Salon Junior Stylist, appears with everything they need to give my hair that soft-curls-transformation thru… Digital Perm!
So today, let this exciting hair transformation be in my Kikay Diary! This is the day “When Azta Urban Salon Liberate My Style!”
“Azta Urban Salon opened October 2004. It began as a small styling nook in Ortigas Center, with the vision of becoming the number one chosen partner for the beauty and grooming needs of the urban youth throughout key cities in the country.
We gradually became known for our personalized customer service, as well as the hip, stylish, and up-to-date haircuts that we do.” –Azta Urban Salon
So Leah shares the types of curls where I could choose from.
“We can give you either Waves, or Medium, or Small curls. It depends on you if you just want it to look a little wavy, or really pretty small!”
Let me share something first, I already cut my locks on my own, twice, out of hmm… curiosity! Well, some girls are just really weird that way! Haha! So Ms. Leah decided to give my hair a good trim!
Did You Know?
Haircut is Azta Urban Salon’s top selling service! And, the cool thing is that 60% of Azta Urban Salon’s haircut lovers are GUYS! 😀 Simply because guys need their regular haircut every month! Cute boys!
After the haircut, they proceed to the steps in curling my hair!
1st STEP : Smoothen Hair strands
Marla lets a smoothening mixture on my hair for about 20 minutes 🙂
Azta Hair Tips!
Leah shares that if your hair has been rebonded, it cannot be curled thru “Cold Perm” unless products are compatible. For example, if L’oreal products were used in your previous rebond, your hair may be treated again using the same brand.
But the good news is that “Digital Perm” also called “Hot Perm” can still be performed no matter what! Just make sure that your hair is not too short, alrightie? 😉
2nd Step : Wind Hair into the chosen Curl type
Leah and Marla sets my hair into small curls! 🙂
3rd Time for the Digital Perm!
Temperature and time depends on you hair type.
Leah says mine was normal so my digital perm took about 30-40 minutes! 🙂
Azta Hair Tips!
Leah shares that when having a Digital Perm, it must be 4 inches away from your scalp because of the damage the heat from steaming might cause!
4th Neutralize Hair
5th Blow dry and Set Hair
Just a few more minutes!

AZTA Hair Tips!
Afterwards, Marla gives me tips on how to take care of my hair!“Use a styling lotion while hair is still wet and make sure to start setting it from your hair tips so it looks bouncy when it dries! And a monthly treatment will be perfect!” She smiles.
So here it is, me in my soft little curlsss! Teehee! XD
I love it, Azta! Thank you Ms. Meg, Ms. Rose, Ms. Leah and Ms. Marla! 🙂
