Breaking News: Apple CEO Steve Jobs Resigns

Capture

Sad day for Apple fans everywhere, earlier today Steve Jobs just announced that he would be resigning his position as CEO of Apple. According to the press release of Apple his position will be filled in by Tim Cook whom Steve highly recommended to the board.

Aside from the press release the following letter was also published:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

Though I said earlier that it was a sad day for Apple fans, I also believe it is a sad day for tech. I do believe that Steve was awesome CEO that lead the Apple and the tech industry to where it is right now. Now that he stepped down as CEO, I am curious to see how will Tim Cook handle the company and will his decisions and visions be at par with Steve’s. Steve will still continue to be involved with Apple as Chairman of the board but we will definitely be seeing less of him now. Good luck to Steve and to Apple in their future ventures.
