The Angels may be gearing up for another mission. A new Charlie’s Angels film is reportedly in development at Sony, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While details remain under wraps, the project marks yet another revival of the decades-spanning franchise that began in the 1970s.
Pete Chiarelli, the screenwriter behind films like Crazy Rich Asians, Now You See Me 2, and The Proposal, has been tapped to pen the script. As of writing, there’s no word yet on who will direct the film or which actresses might step into the iconic roles.
There are also early reports that Drew Barrymore’s production company, Flower Films, could be involved in the new installment. Flower Films previously backed the 2000 and 2003 Charlie’s Angels movies. However, no official confirmation has been announced.
For those who need a quick refresher: Charlie’s Angels first premiered as a TV series in 1976. The story centers on three women working as private investigators for the mysterious Charlie Townsend, whose voice guides them through assignments but whose face is never shown. The original lineup included Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Jaclyn Smith, with Cheryl Ladd joining later on.
The franchise made a successful jump to the big screen in 2000 with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu leading the cast. That version leaned into high-energy action and stylized fight sequences, eventually spawning a sequel, Full Throttle, in 2003.
Since then, the property has seen a short-lived TV reboot in 2011 and another film adaptation in 2019, led by Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska.
