Actress Angel Locsin recently quoted Nelson Mandela by posting on her Instagram: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” She used it when announcing her most recent gesture of generosity, which was to grant scholarships to 31 different students for their schooling. The act has initiated people and media sites alike calling her a ‘true angel’.

The move to fund these 31 students’ education was in fulfillment of a previous promise as well as a way to show gratitude for her supporters. Angel had made an earlier promise to finance these scholarships should she reach the 5.5 million follower mark on Instagram. She expressed on her account: “Thank you to all my 5.5M Instagram and 11M Twitter followers for being there since the beginning, through all the challenges and milestones. As promised when we reached 5M on IG, I would like to share with you this simple celebration of helping 31 scholars through schooling.”

Angel posted a collage of the 31 beneficiaries and the group of scholars was a good mix of both young and old, male and female. The diversity of the group is a good way to show that education is for everyone and should be attainable regardless of your background. She wrapped up her post by saying: “I believe that education is one of the best gifts we can share to others and that empowered individuals can help shape a bright future. ”
