Alex Eala is set to face Spain’s Cristina Bucșa in the second round of the 2025 US Open.

Currently ranked No. 75 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, Alex is hopeful for another breakthrough win after making history as the first-ever Filipino to win a match at a Grand Slam singles tournament in the Open era against Clara Tauson.
Meanwhile, Cristina earned her spot in the second round when she bested America’s Claire Lu. She is currently ranked No. 95, 20 spots below the standout Filipina tennis player.
The winner of their match will move on to face either between 19th seed Elise Mertens of Belgium or New Zealand’s Lulu Sun.
Early this year, Alex Eala made headlines after winning three consecutive times at the Miami Open, defeating Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek.
