After 11 years, Farmville is shutting down

Remember 2009-era Facebook where people were obsessed with Farmville and all those other Facebook games? Those were simpler times with simpler goals. And bugging a friend to play with you for game incentives were fun, too.

However, the classic 2009 game is now going to be shut down–permanently.

Their official Facebook page announced it last Friday, bidding goodbye to all their loyal players. “Thank you is a small word but when fertilized with love and beautiful memories it means the world to us. So here’s a great BIG THANK YOU for farming with us through it all,” they wrote, heartfelt.

Because flash games aren’t as popular anymore, Farmville was steadily on the decline in terms of popularity and it was only a matter of time before it, and others, would stop being updated and start being closed down for good. Still, it brings back a ton of good memories. Thank you, Farmville.
