The UPLB Mathematical Sciences Society, a premier organization representing the various fields of mathematical sciences, celebrates the 34th Mathematical Sciences Week in line with the organization’s objective of promoting deeper appreciation and wider application of the mathematical sciences. For this year’s celebration, the UPLB Mathematical Sciences Society promotes the theme, “FUTURE SECURED: Optimizing Finances Using Mathematics” to advance financial literacy and awareness of the financial challenges faced by society today.

This is a week-long celebration starting from the 15th to the 22nd of October 2022 that invites high school and college students, academic educators, and academics interested in being involved in a future that is financially secured with the help of mathematics. To this, the organization encourages everyone involved to share their insights through various events offered during the 34th Mathematical Sciences Week.

One of the highlights of the week-long event is the 34th National Mathematical Challenge (MATHEMATCH) which went national for the second time in history. The preliminary round will be held on October 15, 2022 and is then proceeded by the final round on October 22, 2022 to determine the winner of the national mathematical competition. The final round will be streamed live via the organization’s official Facebook page.

Aside from the 34th National Mathematical Challenge, the organization also offers other events such as unMASSk: A Webinar on Fundamentals of Financial Mathematics, Short Video Making Competition, Infographics Making Competition, and Puzzle of the Day and Puzzle of the Week. Further details of such events can be found on the official Facebook page (@uplbmass1973).
