This Cafe in the Philippines Is Top 2 Best Coffee Shop in the World, According to Monocle Magazine

A café in the Philippines has earned global recognition as one of the best coffee shops in the world in an article published by Monocle, a prestigious international lifestyle and business magazine.

Harlan Coffee, a Manila-born coffee brand, made it to the number 2 spot on the list that featured 25 coffee shops around the world “run by people who deliver great brews, good design and a sense of community.” The magazine released the list in its June 2026 print issue, where it described Harlan Coffee as an “urban oasis.”

“Catering to on-the-go professionals, Filipino entrepreneur Emmanuel T Pineda’s Harlan Coffee seeks to serve up re-energising experiences that fit into the rhythms of our working lives,” Monocle wrote. Currently, there are a total of 20 Harlan Coffee branches—10 each in Manila and Jakarta—and the write-up mentions the brand’s “ambitions to open a flagship in every Southeast Asian capital.”

Harlan Coffee will soon open its much-awaited outlet along the bridgeway at the BGC Amphitheater, nearly two years after closing its iconic spot along 5th Avenue.
