These Local Titles Will Be Featured at Worldcon 2026

Hot Tropiks is excited to announce its official debut as an exhibitor at LAcon V, the 84th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), taking place from August 27 to 31, 2026, at the Anaheim Convention Center, Hilton Anaheim, and Anaheim Marriott.

Running since 1939 and home to the prestigious Hugo Awards, Worldcon is the world’s oldest and most iconic global gathering for science fiction and fantasy creators, fans, and publishers. Marking Worldcon’s return to the Los Angeles area for the first time in 20 years, Hot Tropiks is celebrating this milestone by showcasing a major lineup of Philippine speculative fiction, including exclusive US physical debuts and hard-to-find titles directly from independent creators in the Philippines.

FEATURED US PHYSICAL DEBUTS

  • Maharlika Compendium (Vols. 1–3) by Rexy Dorado & John Ray: An alternate-history graphic novel series exploring a high-tech Manila where the Philippines became a global superpower.
  • Gimo Jr. and the Aswang Clan by Andrew Jalbuena Pasaporte & Auggie Fontanilla: A fast-paced supernatural mystery blending Visayan folklore with modern street art.
  • Night Gate Vol. 1 by Lucia Asul: A high-contrast urban fantasy-horror comic co-published with Raygun Press set during a dark civil war.
