A hands-on wellness experience exploring the Philippines’ incense culture is happening this August 29 in Mandaluyong.
Long before candles and diffusers lined our shelves, Filipinos were already turning to scent as a form of ritual, healing, and connection, burning native resins and herbs in ceremonies passed down through generations. This August, that tradition is being brought back to life through a hands-on workshop hosted by Hilom Collective, a wellness collective focused on healing-centered learning experiences.

The Filipino Incense Making Workshop with Datu Batara Mamugoyay will take place on August 29 at Mindful Moves Wellness Studio, Paragon Plaza, Mandaluyong, offering participants a rare, tactile way to explore Philippine incense culture, not through a lecture, but through their own hands.

“This isn’t just a craft session,” shares Crizy Austria, Hilom Collective’s Founder and one of the organizers behind the workshop. “It’s a wellness experience beyond the physical; a way to reconnect with a part of Filipino heritage that most of us never learned about, using scent as the doorway.”
Participants will learn the traditional process of Filipino incense making from scratch, working with natural aromatics rooted in local heritage. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to slow down for an afternoon. By the end of the session, attendees take home not only what they’ve made, but a skill they can continue to practice.
The workshop reflects the kind of programming Hilom Collective is known for: intentional, research-informed, and designed to create real, lasting engagement rather than a one-off “experience” that’s forgotten the next day. It’s part of a broader slate of offerings from Hilom, which also include online courses on emotional wellness (Understand Yourself, Build Resilience, and Transform Your Life) and a growing community of wellness facilitators across the Philippines.
Because the workshop is intimate and in-person by design, slots are limited.
