A group of Senior High School students in New Zealand just performed a funky rendition of the well-known Filipino song “Da Coconut Nut” at a choir competition!
The song was sung by the Carmini Choir, composed of students from the all-boys Catholic School of Rosmini College and the all-girls Catholic School Carmel College. It was Filipino teen Andreii Dela Rosa who suggested the piece to their choirmaster in an effort to share Filipino music and culture not only to Auckland, New Zealand, where the competition was held, but to the world.
The competition, titled “The Big Sing,” took place at the Auckland Town Hall on June 14, 2022. It is held annually and is organized by the New Zealand Chorale Federation.
