Yassi Pressman to Star in the Local Adaptation of This Korean Movie

We’re getting another Pinoy remake of a South Korean movie, this time starring Yassi Pressman — fresh out of her long stint as Alyana in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”!

Yassi confirmed this news in an interview with reporters last month, revealing that she will be portraying the role of Cream in the local adaptation of “More Than Blue,” a romance drama that premiered in 2009.

The story follows two orphans who meet in high school and eventually become close friends who share a home. When K discovers that he has a terminal illness, he keeps it as well as his infatuation for Cream a secret from her and urges her to marry a nice and wealthy man. Unbeknownst to K, Cream has a secret of her own.

Describing how she felt about the project, Yassi expressed that she can’t help but be so moved by the story.

“I’m very excited to do the film with JC Santos and Marco Gumabao. The script is beautiful. I cry every time I finish it. I really feel the characters’ emotions,” she said.

“In a love so complicated, there’s bound to be a lot of sacrifices involved. It’s a great piece and I’m happy and honored I was chosen to be part of it.”

“More Than Blue” was later adapted into a Taiwanese film under the same name in 2018 which received high acclaim in the 23rd Busan International Film Festival. Yassi, however, admitted that she is making an active effort not to watch the original and the other remake to refrain from copying what they did.

“I want to create this version without the thoughts about how the original actors did the film. I want to be as natural as I can. I don’t want to end up copying what they did,” she shared. “I got used to ‘Ang Probinsyano,’ where the scripts were given almost on the spot. And I have realized that that allowed me to release my rawest emotions.”

Shooting is set to begin soon with Nuel Naval helming it as the director.
