The University of the Philippines Association of Chemistry Majors and Enthusiasts (UP ACME) is a duly recognized, non-partisan, non-religious, non-stock, non-profit, student-oriented organization from the University of the Philippines Diliman geared towards the promotion of the study of chemistry and the sciences in the Philippine setting.
With the goal of nurturing the youth to become more academically competent and to engender their passion for sciences, the UP Association of Chemistry Majors and Enthusiasts (UP ACME) holds HSM: Hanep sa Science at Math, an annual inter-school science and mathematics quiz bee open for public and private high schools in Metro Manila and CALABARZON.Â
This year, UP ACME presents the 7th installment of HSM, an online scientific writing symposium and competition open to all junior high and senior high school students, as well as out-of-school youth ages 13-19 years old nationwide. With over 180 participants from all over the country and of up to Php 7,000 worth of cash prizes and giveaways, the event hopes to promote the appreciation of natural sciences, hone scientific writing skills, and establish the importance of scientific discourse and fact-checking in the Philippines.
The symposium will be held on May 22, 2021, via Zoom and Facebook Live from 1:00-5:00 PM, and the asynchronous writing competition for registered participants will happen from 5:00 PM to 5:00 PM on May 23, 2021.Â
Registration is officially closed, however, interested participants who were not able to register may still watch our Scientific Writing Symposium via Facebook Live through the Hanep sa Science at Math Facebook Page.
