Miss Universe Cameroon Shares Her “Big Love Story” with the Philippines

The 69th Miss Universe pageant is coming up and everyone is getting to know the many contestants vying for the highly-coveted crown.

Miss Universe Cameroon Angele Kossinda is making history as the first representative of the country in the prestigious pageant. Another interesting fact: she has strong ties to the Philippines!

Recently, Kossinda revealed that Kennedy Jhon Gasper, a 20-year old fashion design student from Isabela, designed her national costume.

On Instagram, she said, “Indeed a national costume represents your country legacy, culture and image. And to me the most important thing is to find someone who could best represent it in an outfit or costume no matter your origins – this is what we learn from beauty pageant – inclusion – tolerance – unity ! So yes a Filipino designer has made my national costume.”

Kossinda added, “We have to remember that he is a very young talented man who also deserves this opportunity.”

Not only that, the Miss Universe Cameroon shared that she has a strong relationship with the Philippines. She said, “There’s a big love story between the Phillipines, Filipino fans and me, and that is since 2017.”

Kossinda also said, “Be aware my gowns as well are made by Filipino – I have been trained and mentored by Filipino too.”

She did not name the other Filipinos she’s working with, but she ended her post with, “Stay tuned to discover who they are.”

The 69th edition of the Miss Universe will be held in Florida on May 16, 2021, or May 17 in Philippine time.
