Jovel Baria’s interest in art started when he was a kid. According to him, art has always been his ally when it comes to speaking up his thoughts. He spent his childhood playing under the rustic afternoon sky with his siblings and cousins.
Growing up, he also spent his time scanning through different books about art. This is where his fondness for the art style impressionism started. He loved the way the art style plays tricks with the eyes.

He initially started working on canvas papers, either with watercolor or acrylic paints. One day, he decided to buy a set of mini canvases online and started painting on them.
Some of Jovel’s favorite subjects to paint are landscapes, seascapes, florals, and the night sky, saying that he has a lot of fun creating these mini acrylic paintings. According to Jovel, these mini paintings are easier to complete, but he loves the challenge of keeping all the elements in a small frame and making it work.

Jovel then started posting his paintings on his social media accounts. With the support of his friends and his family, he started selling his work online. With this, he was able to save enough to support Brigada Eskwela, a project for a cause supported by the company he works for.

“Through my artworks, I get to travel through my landscapes, I get to ease my mind by just looking at those petite art pieces, I get to spread awareness on some issues and learn about myself even more,” Jovel said. “I really find this a perfect getaway from all the stress, worries, anxiety, and challenge that this pandemic situation has brought us. ”
