The Department of Health (DOH) said that they are now looking into allowing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to enter the Philippines without getting tested for COVID-19.
According to the DOH, the government is studying if they could allow OFWs entering the Philippines from low-risk countries without undergoing a swab test. However, returning OFWs will still be required to undergo the two week quarantine protocol.
In a briefing last Saturday, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeir said that this could be an option if getting an RT-PCR test is not readily available.
This news comes after the Philippine Red Cross’ decision to stop its COVID-19 tests because of delayed payments from Philippine Health Insurance Corp.
