Wack Wack Golf and Country Club on Lockdown

Effective March 11 this year, the Wack Wack Golf and Country club in Mandaluyong was placed on lockdown and will be closed until further notice. This took place after the foreign guest of a member was tested positive for the New Coronavirus (Covid-19) upon returning to his home country Singapore.

Based on reports, the member hosted the guest last March 2 and was shocked when he found out that the guest was already positive for Covid-19 when said guest flew back home the next day. Although the foreign guest did not use the locker room, the host member did, which allegedly raises the possibility of having infected the personnel and other employees he came in contact with. Currently, the two caddies who served the member and guest, along with the two other caddies who have been in the member’s flight have been asked to go on quarantine.

Wack Wack Village Association president Lawrence Tan said in a letter to members that this closure “would be an opportunity to disinfect and sanitize the premises, to ensure that our club remains safe for everyone”. To date, the country has 49 confirmed cases, and one confirmed death from the Covid-19 virus.
