The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) has issued a statement following the news that an arrest warrant has been made for singer Yeng Constantino by the Regional Trial Court of Surigao Del Norte for cyber libel.

The warrant came months after Yeng made controversial posts in July 2019 complaining about her experience in Dapa Siargao Hospital and with OIC Chief of Hospital of Siargao District Hospital, Dr. Esterlina Tan, who she claimed had displayed a lack of concern and urgency over her husband’s injury sustained while cliff-diving. Yeng had deleted the social media posts after facing backlash and Dr. Tan has since filed a cyber libel complaint against the singer.
In a message sent to ABS-CBN News, Dr. Bu C. Castro, spokesperson and chairman of PMA’s Commission on Ethics, said they are “willing to mediate” between Yeng and Dr. Tan to reach a “peaceful settlement.”

Yeng has also since posted bail of PHP30,000.
“Our client Ms. Yeng Constantino-Asuncion, has posted bail and an Order approving the same has just been signed,” Yeng’s lawyer, Atty. Joji Alonso said in a statement. However, he claimed that they have yet to receive a copy of the complaint.
