Our newest Darna, Jane De Leon, has been receiving hate ever since the announcement of her casting. Apparently, she has been called out as just a “pretty face” who “can’t act.” A few days ago on Tonight With Boy Abunda, Jane decided to address these critiques.

On the subject of being undeserving to play the iconic role, Jane says audiences will just have to wait and see.
“Hindi ko in-expect itong proyektong ito. Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nakakataas na may nakita silang potential at pinagkatiwalaan nila ako. Siyempre ayaw ko silang ma-disappoint,” she continues.
Jane also shares that she gets through comments like this because she is used to it. With the usual grind of role-hunting and auditions sometimes reaching a total of 10 hours per day, she’s learned to thicken her skin to criticism. Jane has been faced with people telling her that she can’t act, that she “isn’t right for the role”, and even that she simply isn’t attractive. She has gotten through all of this with the help of her mom.
