Jennifer Lynn’s No Chip UV Gel Polish by You’ve Got Nail Spa and Studio

I have a thing for nail polish. There are days when I’d switch nail color twice, and days when I’d start work on my own nail art– never mind the dizzying polish fumes, it’s worth it!

Thing is, I like working with my hands. Whether it be for doing my DIY projects or working on my homemade jewelry, I always, always end up chipping my nail polish. Doesn’t matter how careful I am, it seems the curse of broken nails is one I’d have to live with.

It was last Thursday, though, that my schedule afforded me a short break, and what better way to pamper yourself When In Manila than to have your nails done?

Me and my sister headed on to a new salon in BF. A dainty place called You’ve Got Nail that just opened last November was offering no chip nail polish. Perfect!

The place was not hard to find. Situated on the corner of Aguirre and Elizalde, we immediately spotted the green building the spa is in.

You’ve got nail Spa and Studio is cozy little nook. I liked the pink and blue theme, but I especially loved the fact that they had permanent sinks at the base of their couches just for pedicures.

Owner Peach Israel greeted us at the door. She explained all about the no chip polish. No chip polish, UV nail polish, gel polish, or semi permanent polish, as it is usually called is basically nail polish whose formula requires UV light for it to dry. It then turns into a gel like coat on your nail that lasts up to two weeks without chipping.

Let the mani/pedis begin!

We were given hand and foot massages (I chose the peppermint scrub and my sister chose strawberry). Snacks were served and a movie was being played. Perfect for someone like me who usually gets bored while having my nails done.

The same manicure procedure is used, only this time, there is a period of 2 minutes under the UV light to allow for drying. This is done after each polish coat. The final topcoat is then dried for 4 minutes, also under the UV light.

The end result is the perfect manicure. No chipping, smooth, and with more vibrant colors. There is also a two week guarantee, any chipping and you can come back and they will gladly redo that nail.
