When someone traditionally wears red to a wake, it’s considered an insult. But Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago was no traditional woman.
Paying their last respects to the much-celebrated senator, who passed away on September 29, ardent supporters of the senator wore red to her wake, an ode to Sen. Santiago’s 2016 campaign color.
Red was supposedly a special color to the senator, as Atty. Riza Ofilada, Sen. Miriam’s Chief of Staff for 20 years told 24 Oras:
“Kasi nung nililigawan daw siya ni sir, ni-line up yung hallway ng dorm with red roses. That’s why she loves red roses.”
The country has truly lost a brilliant mind.
