9Works Theatrical will be holding auditions soon for the show.
“RENT,” which premiered in January 1996, is a rock musical telling the story of a group of young and penniless artists living in New York City who attempt to survive day by day amid the rise of HIV/AIDS. The music, lyrics, and book were all written by Jonathan Larson who suddenly died of an aortic dissection possibly due to an undiagnosed illness the night before the play’s premiere.
It has since received multiple awards including a Pulitzer Prize and four Tony Awards. It was then adapted into a movie in 2005 directed by Chris Columbus with a screenplay by Stephen Chbosky.
