Last year’s AsiaPOP Comic Con was an incredible success and after attending the first day of AsiaPOP Comic Con 2016 this time around, I have got to say that things are just getting better. Here are 10 reasons why you shouldn’t miss AsiaPOP Comic Con 2016 and why I have been having an absolute blast so far.
8 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Miss AsiaPOP Comic Con 2016
8. Gamers get to unite!
Whether you’re a fan of DotA 2, Street Fighter V or NBA 2K16; you can get your game on and bring out your best strategies at AsiaPOP Comic Con! Enjoy board game and video game demos and merchandise, as well as tournaments.
Having grown up with Magic: The Gathering, though, my favorite part was getting a free small starter deck at the Magic: The Gathering section. I got a quick refresher course from Ken and I had such a fun time reliving my teenage years (especially since I won :p).
7. It’s not just about comics; there are toys, too.
If you’re more into toys than comics, or if you’re a fan of both, you’ll get your fill at APCC, as well. Simone Legno, co-founder of tokidoki, is back once again.
However, there are also so many other additions to the roster this year, including Devilrobots, the Japanese art group famous for the iconic To-Fu Oyako character cast; Comicave Studios; Great Toys Online; Gaming Library; and Filbar’s.

6. There are photo ops everywhere!
Another fun part about AsiaPOP Comic Con is the fact that you can take lots of cool pictures practically everywhere. No matter where you go or where you look, there will be something or someone to take pictures of or with. Here are just some of the coolest things we’ve spotted at the con so far:
If you love Harry Potter, visit Portkey Events’ booth!
5. Contests and freebies abound!
If it’s fun you’re looking for, you won’t be let down by what AsiaPOP Comic Con 2016 has to offer. Win exciting prizes at the Animax, AXN, and Sony booths, and even get the chance to feel what it’s like to be part of American Ninja Warrior by running, jumping and tumbling around in a fun, adrenaline-fileld obstacle course!
4. Another epic CAGE cosplay competition is set to happen.
I don’t know about you, but for me, one of the best parts of events like this is seeing people dress up as their favorite fictional characters – and what better way to enjoy that than by watching (or even joining) the CAGE cosplay competition?
Plus, you’ll get to seeilipino cosplay darlings Alodia Gosiengfiao and Myrtle Sarrosa there alongside international cosplayers Riddle, Ani-Mia, Lindze Merritt and Yugana Senshi Uon!
3. Comic book legends are around to sign autographs.
Comic veterans Mike Zeck, Ken Lashley, Whilce Portacio and Billy Tan are at the event, too, and more than happy to talk about comics and even sign your comic books for you.
C.B. Cebulski, Senior VP of Creative and Creator Development, Marvel, is also around to scout for new comic artists for Marvel, so make sure you bring your portfolios if you’re an aspiring comic book artist yourself! This. Is. Your. Chance.
2. Exclusive footage of the upcoming Doctor Strange movie will be showcased.
Last year, we were given the chance to see exclusive footage of Captain America: Civil War. Well, C.B. Cebulski will be showing us never-before-seen footage of Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange movie.
The screening will be limited to 1,000 attendees, though, so make sure you visit AsiaPOP Comic Con on Facebook to find out how you can score passes!
1. Get to see/meet your favorite celebrities!
Obviously, this year’s stellar lineup of stars is the biggest reason to go to this three-day affair. Get the chance to see and even meet Nicholas Hoult, Claire Holt, Joe Dempsie, and Millie Bobby Brown who will all be at the venue ready to sign autographs, hold panel sessions, take photos and meet you all.
Check out the rates and schedule on APCC Manila’s Facebook page to possibly meet these awesome people this weekend!
Of course, this is just a few of the things that you can enjoy at AsiaPOP Comic Con 2016! Get over there yourself, walk around and experience all of the awesomeness yourself. 🙂 If you end up going, I would love to meet you, too, so please do tweet me @the_lil_miss if you end up at SMX! See you there!
