7 Tips on How to Maximize Your Puerto Princesa Trip

7 Tips on How to Maximize Your Puerto Princesa Trip

5. Eat as much seafood as you can.

It’s not everyday that you can get to eat freshly caught seafood; so devour as much as your tummy can hold! Here are some delicious seafood items from Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa’s South Sea Restaurant:

4. Buy pearls.

Do not pass up the opportunity to but authentic pearls here in Puerto Princesa. It’s sold cheaper here anyway, so you get the most of its value. It’s also in abundance, so take delight in choosing the perfect pearl accessory for your forever classic piece.

 3. Take note of the essentials and non-essentials for the Subterranean River Park.

The tour guides will advise you before your visit to the Underground River to not bring snacks, or anything that’s in a plastic, as the wild animals there have the tendency to snatch it from you (the monkeys, specifically). So bring just a few of your necessities.

Once you ride the boat and enter the famed Underground River, marvel at the beauty of the natural rock formations inside the cave. For maximum appreciation, though, bring your own flashlight so you can point to spots you want to see for yourself, as there is only one torchlight available in the boat (unless you choose to be seated in front).

2. Try Vietnamese food.

Vietnamese people used to reside here in Puerto Princesa, and their influence has been truly rampant that they even took the Palawan cuisine by storm! There are a lot of Vietamese restaurants to dine at in Puerto Princesa.

We visited Viet Ville, the most popular and highly-recommended Vietnamese resto by the locals. Order the Chao Long, or Vietnamese beef stew. Freshen up with a glass of Vietnamese iced tea with floral notes to end a nice Vietnamese meal.

1. You can scrimp on pasalubong, food, and other trip essentials, but never on activities.

You can always buy (or make your own!) delicacies in Manila, eat at different diners that serve Palawan specialties, or purchase souvenirs in malls, but you don’t always get to come across the ultimate Puerto Princesa experience unless you’re actually there. Going back to what I stated in number 7: “Never settle for something that’s ‘okay lang‘; you’re not always traveling, so make the most out of it!” I can never stress this enough.

Keep these in mind and we’re sure you’ll be having a blast in Puerto Princesa. Enjoy your summer vacation!
