“I don’t need a planner because I already have a notebook that I carry around. Plus it’s only going to take up space in my already heavy school bag.” Do you have similar sentiments? I used to be a planner hater until my uncle gave me a lightweight daily planner as a Christmas gift which I only started to use 2 months into 2015. It’s a lightweight daily planner that could double as a journal or diary. After a few days of writing things to do and random thoughts, I realized how fun and rewarding it was to own a daily planner!
I’ve been looking for the perfect planner for 2016 since Christmas break. After spotting promising ones in bookstores and scouring the internet, my “want list” narrowed to one of the newest, prettiest and most reasonably priced out there- The Bliss Planner. The solid mint green color alone of both the basic and premium versions conjure visions and sensations of cotton candy, mermaids, and dream catchers! If you’re like me who used to think that owning a planner was a burden, here are 5 reasons why owning one like the Bliss Planner isn’t and how it actually makes life easier!

5. It helps you stay organized
The most obvious reason is that a daily planner is a tool that helps you manage your time and schedule your activities in a structured manner. It keeps track of all the things you have to accomplish this week as you jot those down on well laid out pages.
Each month starts with a monthly grid for the most important days to remember like a birthday or a holiday. The next pages display a daily schedule for to-dos, meetings, and notes.
4. It inspires you to get artsy
My handwriting is “horrendous” (according to my accounting professor’s note on my test paper). I myself don’t understand some words I write when rushed. I don’t want to mess up a page and so like magic there are colored pens, and doodles to redirect all attention from my not-so-cute handwriting. There are also empty pages, which are really sites for unleashing one’s creativity, as those could be filled with drawings, write artsy stuff like quotes, typography, and whatnot.
3. It’s a non-digital (ie. no battery required) memory bank where you could display some of your favorite photos
The section “Snaps from this Month” is a space where you can paste your most fond of memories for the month! If you’re a pen and paper kind of girl, let your friends write personal notes or short letters. This way, you can also have pages to decorate or something to reminisce on when you get bored. For instance, while you wait for your late friend at a cafe just pull out your planner and lay out some photos to keep yourself occupied.
2. It motivates you to reach your goals (the tiny, small ones and the gigantic, big ones)
It’s time to get stuff done by getting out of the procrastination zone! Nothing beats the satisfaction you get from ticking off an item from your everyday to-do list.
Review your obtainable resolutions and work towards them. Have that dream Palawan trip with your friends in the next few months? Save up and turn those plans into reality. The “Savings Tracker” will help you monitor how financially close you are to what you want.
1. It’ not your typical planner…okay!!!
“Not just a typical planner, it is your binder/journal/planner and helping hand in conquering the year blissfully.” This is how the Bliss Planner is described on their Facebook page. Now, if they put an exclamation point at the end of that sentence it’d be your perfect partner for world domination. It’s not only beautiful but also functional. The binder is made of synthetic leather while the paper is of a high quality which makes your pen glide and prevents blotting. That’s good news for gel pen lovers! Since it is a binder, you can also order inserts or more pages for both the basic and premium versions.

Consistency is my mantra this year. I’m hopeful that this planner will help me solidify my short and long-term goals, whether it’s mundane like buying essentials from the supermarket or an exciting one like going on an out of town trip.
As Benjamin Franklin supposedly once said,“if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” It’s not too late to grab your own Bliss planner. Go get it go-getter and get it together this year!
