15 Vinegar Brands in the Philippines Have a Cancer-Causing Ingredient

The Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) has been studying the vinegar brands available in supermarkets and sari-sari stores in the Philippines. After a year, they have found out that 15 vinegar brands are made of cancer-causing synthetic acetic acid.

Unlike what most people know, vinegar should come from the fermentation of natural ingredients, like coconut water.

In a statement from a representative of PNRI, they explained that these synthetic materials can cause cancer and other degenerative diseases like Parkinson’s disease.

Raymond Sucgang, Head Researcher of the PNRI’s Nuclear Analytical Techniques Application System, also shared that the vinegar products available may have passed conventional testing methods, but should still be tested with a nuclear technique to find out if the products are synthetic or natural.
