FREE Mobile App Helps Pinoys Report Issues to the Government

Cormant Technologies Inc. has launched a free mobile application called iReport. This mobile application can be downloaded for free from either Play Store or App Store.

iReport mobile application is another channel for citizens to reach out to the government. It provides an easier way of reporting issues, suggestions or commendations. The reports received through the application will be forwarded to the proper government agency in near real time.

One of the features of iReport is the support for photo. Incident/issue reporting becomes more credible when supported by photos taken when events are seen. With its offline mode, the application may still be used even when there is no data connection; it will automatically submit the report once a connection is established. The application has an easy to use design and uses general types of issues (e.g. traffic and transportation) in the menu with the iReport system being able to determine the government agency to which it should be sent.

“We encourage the public to use the iReport application aside from posting their grievances and suggestions via Social Media sites. Posts in Facebook or Twitter will most likely be noticed if it goes viral, but there is no need to wait for that to happen. With the use of iReport, your concerns and ideas will be forwarded to the proper authorities” said Alma Rivera, Enterprise Solutions Manager of Cormant.

Prior to the launch of iReport, Cormant reached out to government agencies to get their feedback. The general feedback from these agencies has been positive, as they are happy that Cormant is offering this without any cost to the government or to Filipinos.

iReport provides benefits both to the government and to the general public. The use of the application empowers citizens to participate in policy creation through active participation via the application. It eliminates the need to memorize a hotline or email address. With the structured reports that the government will receive, they will be able to monitor which issues have been addressed and which are still pending.

Melvin Lopez, Application Manager of Cormant mentioned that ”he would like the Filipinos to always remember the hashtag “iReportNaYan”, which means you want to send a report to the government which you can do anytime, anywhere”.
