5. Drink lots of water.

It might sound cliché, but hydration is the easiest and cheapest way to keep your skin blemish-free. Hydrated skin looks clear and supple, and drinking enough water flushes out toxins and other impurities that could be affecting your complexion.

4. Don’t forget to moisturize!

Aside from keeping skin properly hydrated, moisturizer retains the moisture in your complexion, minimizing the appearance of pores and keeping your skin youthful.

3. Start a skin care routine and stick to it.

Koreans have that coveted flawless skin for a reason, and that’s because they stick to a strict skincare regimen. You can always take a leaf out of their book and invest in a 10-step skincare routine, but for those without the luxury of time, a simple nighttime procedure exfoliate-tone-mask-moisturize should already improve your complexion. One of the easiest and trendiest ways to get into masking is to use sheet masks — you put it on, leave it for about twenty to thirty minutes, then take it off.

2. Get a makeup primer.

Makeup and skincare don’t have to be mutually exclusive. The great thing about primer is that it lets your foundation go on smoothly, creasing out any fine lines, roughness and other edges that could leave your makeup cakey. Also, certain products such as foundation could clog your pores especially if you use this regularly, so primer acts as a barrier between your skin and your makeup. Talk about a double purpose!

1. Always take off your makeup before you go to bed.

This may sound like a no-brainer, but a late night out could leave one feeling lazy to reach for the makeup remover. While some of us may have accidentally fallen asleep with makeup on and woke up with no consequences, the effects of sleeping with makeup on are a lot. Sleep is when our skin restores itself, and when makeup blocks our pores by then, it could lead to bad breakouts, blackheads, and irritated skin. Meanwhile, eye makeup could abrade the surface of the eye, possibly causing infection.
