WATCH: The new ‘Frozen 2’ Trailer is darker and more dramatic than you’d expect

Kristen Bell (the fantastic voice actress for Anna) first teased Frozen 2 nearly 2 years ago by saying that it “won’t be a typical sequel.” The teaser trailer that they just released seems to be backing that statement up. Filled with cutting scenes and high-tension clips from the film, this teaser has honestly got me confused about the direction this sequel is taking.

According to one of the directors, Chris Buck, the film will continue the evolution of Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and especially Elsa. The synopsis listed on IMDb for the movie reads: “Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf are going far in the forest to know the truth about an ancient mystery of their kingdom.”

The original cast consisting of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad will all be returning. We probably won’t be seeing Santino Fontana (Prince Hans) anymore, though. Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are also back to head the project.

Frozen 2 is set to release in the United States on November 22, 2019. In line with the Fall release date, it seems the movie is also taking on a very ‘Autumn’ theme. To understand what this means, check out the teaser trailer below:
