PNP

With bomb scares and security threats becoming rampant as of recent, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that uniformed police officers can now patrol inside malls.

According to a report on The Philippine Star, the PNP had a meeting with mall security managers and they have to this agreement. In the past, uniformed and armed police officers were refused to patrol inside malls because they intimidate mall-goers and shoppers.

According to the PNP, the security managers from following malls attended the meeting:

  • Rustan’s
  • SM Megamall
  • Starbucks
  • Rockwell
  • Shagri-La
  • Diamond Hotel
  • Resorts World
  • Fisher Mall
  • Landmark
  • Ortigas Group
  • Megaworld
  • Sofitel
  • Centro Escolar University
  • Ayala Land

PNP chief superintendent Camilo Cascolan said this will be a big boost in ensuring safety and security inside the malls.

In addition to increased police visibility, the PNP recommended to get bomb-sniffing dogs and put up additional security features in malls.
