An extension of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) was opened starting on Sunday, December 15. It will serve travelers during the holiday season but it will be closed again in January for the construction of the final section of the expressway.
Travelers going north can save up to 30 minutes of travel time by using this newly opened extension.
The four-kilometer Sison-Rosario section runs parallel to the existing highway.
The final section, the Pozorrubio-Sison section, will be approximately 7 kilometers long and is expected to open in the first quarter of next year.
Once the entire TPLEX is opened, travel time from Metro Manila to Baguio can be shortened to 3 to 4 hours.
