What Would Make Your Life Happier?

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier.

The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.  -Margaret Young

Happiness isn’t just all about money, well, yeah, it plays a significant role to buy the things that we need and want and okay, be temporarily happy. But real and long-term happiness doesn’t depend on it alone. Remember not all rich people are happy.  Few still feel meaningless.

Due to my goal to inspire others through blogging and photography, I have collected several insights and tips from different books I read, quotes I got from different social networking sites, and websites that I keep visiting to keep me inspired.

We won’t lose anything if we try these tips, right?

1. Strengthen your faith.

If you do have an enduring faith, you’ll never be out of focus.  Pray, work hard and follow the golden rule.  Do you think if all of us have the strenght to follow this, no one will be left behind?

2. Career vs Job.

A career is the pursuit of a lifelong ambition or the general course of progression towards lifelong goals.

Job is an activity through which an individual can earn money. It is a regular activity in exchange of payment.

Think deeply . Which do you prefer? Choose now, before it’s too late.

3. Volunteer. Be someone’s hero. It’s a soul satisfying activity.

You don’t need to be a celebrity, or politician to help. Often they do it for popularity’s sake but others like ordinary people do it with passion and sincerity. Spending time with needy kids is one of the few meaningful things we can do to make lives more fulfilling.  There’s a magic in volunteering. It transforms you to a happier and better you. On my future posts, I’d love to share those private organizations where we can volunteer.

4. Love.  Top 2 great things in life are; To find someone to love and to be loved.

If it’s meant to be it will find a way. The hopeless romantic mode strikes, excuse me.  If you’re still single, there are lots of perks of being single.  Focus on those things than forcing to find the one.  I think love can be chased, maybe,  but it can’t be forced.  If you have one, then that’s great!  You’re blessed.  Don’t take it for granted.  Treasure it.

5. Cherish small things and value the things that you have.

Don’t compare yourself with others.  Don’t expect too much that can lead to disappointments.  Just work hard to achieve the things that you want . As what they say, you can have Anything you want, but you can’t have Everything you want. I love this statement. Makes a lot of sense.

6. Health is wealth.

You may be rich and famous, you may have the best material things in life but if you’re not fit and healthy, it’s useless.  This is a common statement for me, because I often hear this from my parents especially during those days, was running late for school and oh planning to skip breakfast.  As what they advised: Eat, Think, Act, right.

And speaking of thinking and acting right, I think this will greatly help, there are a lot of meditation and yoga classes, do you attend?  The effects of these activities are very powerful.  Yeah, I know what you’re thinkig, expensive much? Big No.  Hey, these activities won’t hurt your budget at all because there are few private organizations that offer free meditation classes like the one at Brahma Kumaris and yoga classes during Sundays at The Fort.  Free classes though feel free to donate something from the heart.

7. Value those people around you, your family and friends.  Value real relationships.  Those people who love you not just at your best, but who love you at your worst.  Sounds familiar eh?  =)

No man is an island, very common but a reality.  Love, Share, Care. Be real and sincere when dealing with others.  Reach out to your old-time fave friends and find new ones. Find time to hang out with your bestfriends.  This makes life more interesting and inspiring.

8. When you fall, stand up and move on.

You can take a rest if it’s too much to handle but never give up.  Every human being has a problem, uhm, unless you’re something else… So don’t think and assume that you’re the only one who has burdens, because we all have.  No one is living a perfect life.  Others may look like they have, but deep inside they don’t.

One must not lose desires. They are stimulants to creativeness, to love, and to long life.    -Alexander Bogomoletz

9. Be passionate about life.

Find a new hobby. Learn new things. Set goals. Don’t stay within the area called the comfort zone. Life is too short to stay in one place.

When people say to me: “How do you do so many things?” I often answer them, w/o meaning to be cruel: How do you so little?

It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks.

Yet most people don’t.  They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever. –Philip Adams

10. Keep the positivity alive.

Naturally, the more positive thoughts you have, the more positive you’ll feel.  If you want to feel happy, think about happy things.  An unending stream of “happy thoughts” is not, however, necessary to reach your goal.  Motion and direction are.

Note to oneself: I am giving myself a permission to live, love and laugh.  To create a joyful, abundant , fulfilling life!

Hey wanna add something to the list?  Feel free to leave comments and suggestions. Cheers to a happier 2013!
