When you buy a new television, you don’t have to simply throw out the box it came with.

Samsung is now using an eco-friendly box for its Lifestyle TV products. The company is doing this to increase its efforts in reducing environmental waste and encouraging the reuse of items.

Samsung now uses a dot matrix design on each side of its corrugated cardboard boxes, which lets customers cut the boxes more easily and assemble them into various other uses, such as small end tables or houses for pets.

The new TV packing comes with a manual that tells customers how to transform the box into something else, which can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the box.

The electronics giant claims that the boxes can be repurposed for a variety of different uses, such as cat houses, magazine racks, and shelves to store household items and electronic devices, including the remote control for the TV itself.

“Consumers are more likely to purchase from a brand that shares similar fundamentals and values as they do, and with our eco-packaging, we believe that we can provide our customers with a new experience that considers the environment as an important way to express themselves,” Kangwook Chun, Executive Vice President and Head of the Product Strategy Team of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said.
