 The UNITED COLORS OF COMEDY TOUR hits Ateneo!
After their successful show in DLSU last March, Comedy Manila is headed to the Irwin Theater in Ateneo this Friday, August 15th, for the continuation of their United Colors of Comedy Tour. Featuring some of the top Point of View Stand Up Comedians to watch out for in Manila, this is sure to be a night that you cannot miss.
This amazing night will showcase the talents of Jack TV Laffapalooza finalists Ryan Puno, Red Ollero & Victor Anastacio, ABS-CBN Clown in a Million finalist James Caraan, 2012 Hong Kong International Comedy Festival first runner up GB Labrador, and ABS-CBN comedy writer and MOR 101.9 DJ, Alex “The Master” Calleja. Bubble Gang’s Boy Backup himself, Eri Neeman, will host the show.
Stand-up comedy in the Philippines is mainly dominated by local comedy bars that feature performers who do song and dance routines in drag, while making fun or ridiculing audience members. While there is nothing wrong with this style, some people may yearn for a different style of comedy to watch. Comedy Manila is offering this different kind of comedy by letting comedians just go up on stage to tell jokes and funny stories, which allows audience members to see each performers unique point of view. This style is similar to the monologues done by Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon and David Letterman before starting their shows. This is also the popular form of stand-up comedy performed by Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Louis CK and Russell Peters.
