There are various reasons why I was so excited to watch ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ at our screening with PMCM Management in Resorts World yesterday. For starters, the Wasp was actually my favorite character from the Avengers comics that I watched when I was little. Secondly, I love Paul Rudd and his humor. Lastly, the first Ant-Man did not disappoint and as such, I believed this one wouldn’t, either. And after the 3-year wait, I am glad to say that it really didn’t.
The plot of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ is easy to follow, whether you watched the first Ant-Man movie or not. In fact, you don’t need to have watched any of the MCU movies before watching this one – and you’ll actually enjoy it even if you didn’t. I think that’s one of the things that I love about the Ant-Man movies: they can work as stand-alone movies and are so incredibly fun and light to watch, yet they still tie in well with the events of the other movies.
Another thing I love about this particular Ant-Man movie is that it’s the first Marvel movie that actually has a female superhero in the title!!! Okay, so that’s a bit mababaw and may be a bit over-reaching; but it was still a small win for me, especially since (as mentioned earlier), the Wasp was my favorite Avenger back in the day.
Ant-Man and the Wasp also happens to be a great movie to watch with the family because it’s light and funny, and nobody actually dies in it. There isn’t any heavy theme to take in, either; so everyone, whether young or old, whether a die-hard MCU fan or not, is sure to enjoy what it has to offer. Everyone will also have someone to relate to in the movie. The lolos and lolas have Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, the kids have Cassie (Ant-Man’s daughter), the ladies have Evangeline Lilly, and the men have Paul Rudd. Or, if you’d like to look at it from a different perspective, the ladies have Paul Rudd to swoon over and the men have Evangeline Lilly. :p
The star of the show for me was definitely the first after-credits scene, though. I won’t give anything away, but WAIT FOR IT. There are two after-credits scene, so make sure you wait for them and leave me a message on Facebook after you’ve watched them, so we can talk about them! :p
