Unexpected Acts of Kindness: MMDA Officers LEND Driver Some Cash

Let’s face it, the word MMDA officer has left a bad image in most of us that hearing about them automatically makes us think of all the bad experiences and stories we’ve heard of. Despite the bad image, we at WhenInManila.com would like to believe there are still a lot of good officers out there who deserve to be recognized.

A few days ago, Jomai Moreno was lucky enough to encounter 2 of them and shares his story via his FB page.

“On my way home to Bulacan from Terminal 4. Along EDSA, I needed to stop kasi may emergency. Kailangang kailangan ko ng pera that time pero wala akong dala kahit magkano, pang tollgate na lang. These two MMDA officers approached me and asked me what’s wrong. I told them that I needed money badly. No hesitations, they lend me money which is 1500php to be exact. Nagulat ako kasi, di ko sila kilala. After that, I paid them back as soon I got my money back. Malaki pasasalamat ko kasi need ko talaga yung money that time. Nakakatuwa lang kasi hindi pala sila lahat ay buwaya, meron din palang taong mababait na tulad nitong mga to. Ayaw talaga nila magpapicture pero pinilit ko sila. God bless you guys!!! Kung madadaan kayo sa Edsa along Guadalupe lang sila”

Kind MMDA officers

Rough English Translation

“On my way home to Bulacan from Terminal 4. Along EDSA, I needed to stop because of an emergency. I really needed money at that time but didn’t have enough money except for the tollgate. These two MMDA officers approached me and asked what was wrong. I told them I needed money badly. No hesitations, they lent me P150o. I was surprised because I didn’t really know them. I paid them back as soon as I got back my money. I’m am genuinely grateful for their kindness because I really needed money at that time. I was glad because as it turns out, not all of them are crooks, there are still a few good officers like these guys. They didn’t want to have their photo taken but I insisted. God bless you guys!!! If you pass by EDSA along Guadalupe, they’re just there.”

According to other sources, Jomar needed the cash because he was in a minor accident where the driver demanded him to pay for the damages. On the other hand, let’s look at the bigger picture and how these 2 MMDA officers went beyond the call of duty to help a fellow in need. It’s rare not just for an MMDA officer but for anyone at all to offer such kindness and trust to a stranger. Thankfully, Jomar was also honest and returned the money once it was available.

We really need more people like these guys in the world.

What do you guys think of this? Doesn’t it just make you feel good?
