Winner of the Pop Stage talent search contest, CJ Villavicencio, is releasing his very first single soon!
The singer revealed the big news on Instagram over the weekend to friends and followers. “It’s true and it’s happening—I AM RELEASING MY FIRST SONG,” he said. “My debut single will be out on Oct 23, 2020! Can’t wait for you guys to listen to #KulangNaKulang.”

Viva Records also made the announcement on its own Instagram page, sharing a short snippet of the song titled “Kulang na Kulang.”
“CJ Villavicencio will be releasing his debut single entitled “Kulang na Kulang” on October 23, 2020. Save the date!” it wrote on the caption.

This comes months after CJ became the subject of controversy when he won as Grand Champion of the online talent competition for allegedly plagiarizing the arrangement of his winning song from Ang Huling El Bimbo: The Musical‘s version of The Eraserheads hit “Pare Ko.”
He had since published an apology, saying that “there was no intention whatsoever on my part to plagiarize. I am sorry if I caused undue distress, seemed disrespectful or if I have hurt the theater community.”
