This Is Why Ben&Ben’s New Single ‘Masyado Pang Maaga’ Didn’t Make It To Their Album

Ben&Ben’s newest single, Masyado Pang Maaga, just dropped last November 1 at exactly midnight. Just the right time for people to go online and post about their #feels, of course.

But why was the song excluded from the indie-pop-rock band’s album Limasawa Street? As reported by Rappler, the two brothers who both fill the roles of guitarist and vocalist have the explanation for that. It all has to do with the meaning behind the song, which simply didn’t fit with the intended theme of their album.

While Limasawa Street wanted to focus on more ‘”hopeful perspectives in troubled situations”, Masyado Pang Maaga “accompanies the listener in frustration” according to Paolo Guico.

The story behind the song sheds a little more light on this. “When I was writing the song, I was inspired by a very personal experience and frustration of why people struggle so much to communicate and understand each other these days,” Miguel Guico shares.

“Why do people decide to be silent and walk away instead of confront each other and talk about things? Hopefully the song can accompany people who go through the same thing, whether it be in their own personal experience or in their family and friends’ experiences,” he concludes.

However, a press release from the band states that Masyado Pang Maaga may yet appear on a deluxe version of their album, Limasawa Street.

What did you think of the single?
